Mortality as an Indicator of Economic Success and Failure
Author(s)Sen, Amartya
AbstractMortality statistics offer useful insights into the economic condition of a country. The degree of mortality in a country reflects the effectiveness of its health care and the nature of medical insurance being offered to the people by private and public entities. It also mirrors the productiveness of a country’s social services, such as basic education, and the accessibility of modern medical knowledge to rural communities.
