The Cigarette Industry
Author(s)Daynard, Richard A.
AbstractThe international cigarette industry is without peer in terms of the harm it causes. Each year, its products kill more than 400,000 Americans and more than 4 million people worldwide. This chapter analyzes the reasons why the international cigarette industry has not been dismantled. It also presents the strategies that the cigarette industry has used to continue worldwide production and sales. Finally, this study presents options to re-categorize the cigarette industry in order to dissuade the public from consuming its products.
