Not Only an Economist: Autobiographical Reflections of a Historian of Economic Thought
Author(s)Blaug, Mark
AbstractEconomist Mark Blaug recounts the early influences in his education that led him to pursue a career as an economist. His interest in the materialist philosophies of Marx and Hegel were eventually replaced by the psychoanalytic theories of Freud. As a teacher of economic history he has advanced the belief of historical absolutism as it is applied in economics but has since discovered the value of a relativist view of economic history and its methodologies.
