Seeking the Roots of Adam Smith’s Division of Labor in Medieval Persia
Author(s)Hosseini, Hamid
AbstractAdam Smith placed the concept of division of labor at the center of his discussions on economic growth. Although the concept has been around since the writings of Plato and Xenophon, it was also discussed by medieval Muslim intellectuals in Persia. Many argue it is possible that Smith and other intellectuals could have been influenced by medieval Persian scholars.
