Is the War Against Terrorism Just?
Author(s)Elshtain, Jean Bethke
AbstractThe author claims in this chapter, that the just war tradition provides an explanation for why a response to the type of terrorism which took place on September 11 is justified. Yet, this is not the end of the argument, for any response will surely harm innocent lives as well. This chapter examines these issues in the context of the U.S. retaliation in Afghanistan.
