Abstract
Interviews three former Costa Rican presidents: José Figueres Ferrer (1953-58), Daniel Oduber Quiros (1974-78), Rodrigo Carazo Odio (1978-82), and an opposition delegate to the legislative assembly, Javier SolÃÂs, exploring how long-standing traditions of political pluralism, economic democracy, antimilitarism, and social justice have been assaulted by Ronald Reagan’s policies of drawing Costa Rica into military conflict with the Sandinista regime in Nicaragua.
