Remembering the History of the Cotton-Workers’ Struggle
Author(s)Gramsci, Antonio
AbstractThis chapter recounts the strike by female textile workers in 1906. Though it started out as a sectorial strike in response to employer demand for greater and more intense work, it garnered the attention of the working class throughout Turin and a general strike was called that shut down industry until negotiations were conducted and fair concessions granted.
