Neo-Nazi Roots
Author(s)Lewis, Rand C.
AbstractLewis emphasizes the impact of unification on the growth of right-wing militancy throughout Germany–providing examples of neo-Nazi and skinhead activities–as well as the government’s efforts to control the growing extremist movement. This chapter describes the origins of the movement and its alternation between searching for political viability and militancy during the late 1980’s. Disillusionment among working-class youths and fears of unemployment fueled anti-Semitic and anti foreigner sentiments that culminated in Neo-Nazi acts of terrorism.
