The Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and Islamic Societies, With Special Reference to Jordan
Author(s)Benthall, Jonathan
AbstractThe aims of the International Red Cross movement have come into conflict with Islamic nations since the founding of the organization. In the interest of inclusiveness the Red Cross decided to incorporate Red Crescent organizations in 26 Muslim nations, but historical tensions have not abated. The current situation in the Palestinian refugee community in Jordan sheds light on this problem.
