Jewish Children and Childhood in Early Modern East Central Europe
Author(s)Hundert, G.
AbstractThe author makes what he claims is essentially the first study into Jewish childhood in Eastern Europe. The analysis discusses the social implications of rapid population growth of the Jewish community in Eastern Europe, but focuses on the religious norms and social conventions that governed child-rearing among Eastern European Jewry, particularly prior to the eighteenth century.
