The Real Multiculturalism: A Struggle for Authority and Power
Author(s)Mesa-Bains, Amalia
AbstractMuseums are changing and must be understood as multicultural organizations stemming from a postcolonial diaspora. However, in order to fully understand this diaspora, one must understand patrimony and the complimenting issues of power authority, and privilege. Cultural memory may be manifested in resources in recorded history and communities, in addition to audiences which communicate aesthetic sensibility and varying styles of communication and learning. Lastly, exhibitions can play an integral role in cultural memory by granting both access to information, and the tools for integration.
