The Making of Modern Tourism: The Cultural History of the British Experience, 1600-2000

Abstract
This collection is an important addition to the literature on where the industry, tourists, and British tourism have come from to the current state. It does not try to be a definitive tome on the history but will sit nicely on the bookshelf beside localized, regional histories, to some of which its renditions of the past will help add more meaning. There is, of course, much more to be done, which is what Towner and others are espousing. Did someone mention early tourism in China and east and southeast Asia?
