From Cold War to Multilateral Détente
Author(s)Leatherman, Janie
AbstractThe chapter discusses the global political consequences of the Great Depression (1929-1939). The author focuses on three political situations: 1) the appeal of fascism over socialism and communism in Europe, 2) the rejection of conservative dictatorships in favor of populism in Latin America, and 3) the growth of anti-imperialist freedom movements in the African and Asian colonies.
