Abstract
A survey of American reactions to the establishment of a dictatorship by Alexander Karadjordjevic (King Alexander I, 1922-34) reveals that overall there was a limited response both from unofficial sources (periodical literature) and from official government sources, who essentially took a laissez-faire approach to events in the Balkans.
