Africa, the Victorians and Imperialism
Author(s)Shepperson, George
AbstractThis chapter is a review of relevant literature on African History, examining in particular the ideas contained in Robinson and Gallagher’s book, Africa and the Victorians. The author concludes that the Robinson and Gallagher have produced a useful account of African history that furthers the field by warning against taking for granted the term “sub-Saharan” and by “demonstration of the ties that have bound – and bind – Africa and Europe.”
