The Ethics of Intervention in Self-Determination Struggles
Author(s)
Farer, Tom J.
Abstract
Focusing on military international intervention, Farer examines the possibility of foreign, supposedly “humanitarian” forces, actually trampling on the human rights they were originally trying to protect in the country in distress. He argues that advocates of military measures must reasonably believe that they will not violate the fundamental individual rights and, in fact, promote human rights rather than resort to mere inaction.
