Comment on Quillen's "Feminist Theory, Justice, and the Lure of the Human"

Nussbaum, Martha C.
Abstract
The main issues on which Carol Quillen focuses, in her critique of the liberal tradition, are the importance of contextualizing abstract claims and the importance of supplying liberalism (or what-ever political theory one should prefer) with an adequate psychology. Much of the present discussion of Guillan’s work draws on Nussbaum’s 2001 book, Upheavals of Thought: The Intelligence of Emotions.
