Violence and Non-violence
Author(s)Holmes, Robert
AbstractHolmes discusses the problem of violence, how it has evolved into a present state of unmanageable size, for which no one is responsible. He focuses on the moral dimension, for concern for humanity is paramount. He first tries to clarify the complementary notions of violence and nonviolence, and then to distinguish and place in perspective the ethical issues to which they give rise. In conclusion, he attempts to clarify the specific problem of violence at the international level.
