Abstract
The paper briefly introduces the history and study of genocide. It describes what motivated Raphael Lemkin to come up with the term, its acceptance within the international community through United Nations, and the international community’s failure to hold up the promise of “never again”. A number of steps that have been taken to pursue and prevent genocide are discussed and the current scholarly study and debate on the subject is introduced.
