Welfare and Happiness
Author(s)Sumner, L. W.
AbstractThe conclusion drawn from these historic theories of welfare is that philosophical theories about the nature of welfare have so far been too remote from everyday experiences of welfare. This chapter sets out to remedy this deficiency by developing a better version of a subjective theory, one which connects welfare with happiness or life satisfaction.
