What is Happiness and Are We Getting Happier?
Author(s)Layard, Richard
AbstractIn the first of his lectures reviewing academic thought on happiness, Richard Layard discusses what happiness is and how we measure it. Layard then argues for the importance of happiness as a factor in basic human motivation going on to state that while the economies of most developed nations have increased over the past 50 years, happiness has remained relatively constant.
