Multiple Modernities: Christianity, Islam and Hinduism in a Globalizing Age
Author(s)Hefner, Robert W.
AbstractIslam, Hinduism and Christianity are three major religions in the world that are experiencing dramatic changes in the late 20th century. In an effort to refigure their status, the three religions are beginning to gain access into the mass society and weaning their influence among the exclusive elites. It was noted that some of the refigured religions of the late 20th century are changing plural economies of meaning with a homogeneous religious currency.
