Size Asymmetry, Trade, and Militarized Conflict
Author(s)Hegre, Havard
AbstractA study conducted to investigate the claim that symmetrical dependence on trade between two states is required for the trade bond to reduce the chances of interstate conflict by using the trade efficiency measure suitable due to its uncorrelation with asymmetries in country size is presented. The utility model of trade exploring the relationship between the concepts of interdependence and militarization, supports the view that trade reduces the risk of conflict in relatively symmetric dyads.
