Eurasianism: Past and Present
Author(s)Shlapentokh, Dmitry V.
AbstractThere has been considerable ideological diversification within Eurasianism, a quasi-political and intellectual movement. However, all those who subscribe to the movement’s views believe that Russia is a unique cultural and quasi-ethnic body made up of both Slavic and non-Slavic people. Eurasianism also places emphasis on the Asiatic element in Russian culture and ethnicity. It is a significant part of Russia’s intellectual and political history, and may be attractive in the future, especially to those who fear that Russia is heading towards Fascism.
