Abstract
The architects of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) established their party on the patriarchal model though it differed from many conventional views underlying their society. The factors that led them to establish a male-dominated party structure are studied with relevance to gender relations, the patriarchal form of the family, and the status of women in society. The founding fathers of the CCP held strong views relating to the equality of men and women, and they based their personal lives on these views. The leaders of the CCP gained authoritarian positions by following certain policies which were beneficial to them.
