Abstract
If in the socialist countries there are any last mohicans of communism left, they are perplexed and disheartened. The splitting up of communism according to national boundaries created confusion, and no one knows anymore which is the true communism. The same can be said of the societies under the reign of the communists, having destroyed the patriarchal relationships, modern production in Eastern Europe has already led to social differentiation – to the creation of new classes and new strata. no matter from which impartial vantage point one views the societies under communism, one cannot escape the conclusion that they are more bureaucratic than they are socialist. Socialism, in the sense of that classless society conceived long ago, does not exist anywhere, but in terms of a process of the socialization of production and the tendency toward a more just distribution, it can be found everywhere. and that is one of the reasons for the conclusion that today there is neither capitalism nor socialism.
