Global Civil Society?
Author(s)Smith, Jackie
AbstractTo what extent do increasingly visible transnational movements manifest a “global civil society?” Do transnational social movement organizations help cultivate the formation of social capital that is relevant to a politically engaged global civil society? This article argues that these organizations contribute to the formation of social capital that is relevant to the global political order by providing infrastructure that facilitates transnational communication and action.
