Abstract
While the Peruvian popular women’s movement is extremely important, such movements do not and cannot exist in isolation, and that they must operate within a complex system of relationships-relationships that can create both empowerment and dependency for women at the grassroots. This article is an elaboration and analysis of the nature of these relations in the context of the grassroots women’s organizations in Lima and problematizes the notion of unity through diversity.
