New Threats to Human Security in the Era of Globalization
Author(s)Fukuda-Parr, Sakiko
AbstractThis paper makes a case for analyzing the new insecurities introduced or worsened by globalization from a human security perspective. The author examines the ways in which globalization is changing the world — economically, politically, and in terms of information and communications technology — and then reviews the new insecurities that require policy attention. The paper specifically tackles the issues of global crime, trafficking in humans, instability in financial markets, threats to job security, the spread of disease and internal conflicts.
