World Economy: Good Policies Demand More than Economics
Author(s)Sen, Amartya
AbstractViews about changes in the world economy can be distorted by generalizations that accompany progress. These include beliefs that rich countries are getting richer while poor countries become poorer, and that food production is outpaced by population growth. Developing a true understanding about the world economy means realizing the connection between trade, globalization and economy, the significance of political stability and the role of social services in economic development.
