Are There Collective Human Rights?
Author(s)Freeman, Michael
AbstractInternational law and liberalism recognize the doctrine that states must respect individual human rights. However, its interpretation has been complicated by indigenous or minority groups aspiring to form nation-states. Liberal democracy has given importance to the individual within a collective group. Collective human rights are necessary in the propagation of justice and peace by way of integrating liberal universalism and cultural pluralism.
