Toward a Feminist Theory of Freedom
Author(s)Hirschmann, Nancy J.
AbstractMuch ambiguity surrounds the term ‘freedom’ because of the many contexts in which it is used today. A feminist understanding of freedom entails the recognition of the fact that creation and destruction, prevention and promotion and prohibition and requirement are simultaneous events. Freedom should be construed within new contexts that will help people define themselves according to their abilities.
