Statism and Nationalism: A Cosmopolitan Critique
Author(s)Barry, Brian
AbstractIn this article, the author lays out the leading ideas of statism and nationalism and discusses the implications of these for redistribution and intervention. Later the idea of cosmopolitanism is introduced, and contrasted with statism and compared to nationalism. The author argues that the morality of states can not be self contained but can only be defended by showing how the interests of states conduce to the interests of individuals.
