Liberal Elites, Socialist Masses, and Problems of Russian Democracy
Author(s)Kullberg, Judith S.; Zimmerman, William
AbstractEmpirical evidence suggests that there is a substantial gap in world views between the elites and the masses in Russia. Surveys conducted in Russia in 1992-1993 and 1995 reveal variation in ideological orientations which is a function of the post-communist framework of economic opportunity. Hence, economic opportunity structure has considerable effects on ideological orientation as well as system preference of individuals.
