A reappraisal of Karl Popper’s work reveals that his political views were characterized more by conservative caution than by radical liberalism. Popper’s views on the limits of political action also show him to be more concerned about the limits of human nature than in epistemological issues. Contrary to Jeremy Shearmur’s critique, therefore, it is correct to state that Popper’s political conservatism should be distinguished from his well-known epistemological radicalism.
