Aristotle and the Origins of Natural Rights
Author(s)Miller, Fred D. Jr.
AbstractAristotle’s book ‘Politics’ is a precursor to modern philosophies of natural rights, and scholars have tended to overlook this. In contrast, the book ‘Nature, Justice and Rights in Aristotle’s Politics’ focuses on natural metaphysics, justice as a virtue, and constitutional rights in this context. While the ancient meanings of these concepts were not identical to modern meanings, parallels and historical continuity still exist.
