Legitimacy and Political Science
Author(s)O’Kane, Rosemary H. T.
AbstractNew conceptions of legitimacy prove the concept’s importance in political and social theory. Scientific explanations of the theory of legitimacy even show that the concept is at the center of political and social theory. However, views regarding legitimacy and illegitimate power should be analyzed separately. It can be concluded that legitimacy is not at the center of social theory, and that probable centers can be found in government behavior and collective action. However, the importance of legitimacy in society should not be ignored.
