Sustainable Resource Use in Latin American Parks
Author(s)Moore, Alan; Cifuentes, Miguel
AbstractSeveral groups in Latin America have developed ways to preserve national park resources while providing income opportunities to nearby communities. The Friends of Nature Foundation in Bolivia, for instance, offers agricultural-extension and soil conservation education to villagers while the Palcazu project in Peru teaches forest management techniques to the Yanesha Indian tribe to ensure the regeneration of trees that they cut down.
