Protection or Protectionism?
Author(s)Harbison, Earl H. Jr.
AbstractTechnologists who are innovative must realize that public policy is relevant to their work, and researchers in industry and educational institutions should strengthen open international markets. Government regulations that are supposed to safeguard public health and the environment are now being employed as protectionist barriers to international trade, thus furthering the objectives of certain industries and groups of workers. This is evident particularly in the cases of foods, drugs, agricultural products and chemicals.
