Abstract
Women’s rights have been an important part of the socio-political system followed by the government of Yemen after the unification of the Yemen Arab Republic and the People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen during the 1990s. According to the trends followed by the Northern and Southern regions of Yemen, women are not considered on par with men. With the unification of the two countries, efforts have been made to accommodate the Islamic laws with the Yemeni traditions but conflict remains.
