The Military Crisis of the Nation State: Will Asia be Different from Europe?
Author(s)Bracken, Paul
AbstractThe history, development and orientations of Asian military institutions were analyzed. The military orientations of the Asian nation-states should be discerned in order to foresee the trends of international security in the region. As Asia’s wealth increases due to capitalistic systems, their economic competition could be transformed into military competition. It was suggested that Asian military organizations have become transformed and have diminished roles in nation building.
