Abstract
Issues related to the state of the social sciences in the 21st century are examined, focusing on the crisis in the sciences and the need to create a unified theory to confront it. Topics include the impact of university politics, economic globalization, and anti-theoretical approach on the social sciences; the historical roots of the crisis; postmodernism; and the importance of totality as an academic approach.
