Abstract
Studies based on in-depth interviews can achieve a richness of understanding that generally eludes surveys based on structured interviews. The challenge of our project was to identify the three lifestyle preference groups among women within the constraints of large, nationally representative interview surveys, instead of the finely crafted study based on long personal interviews that has so far been necessary. Overall, the project was a success, but there are lessons for future research in this field.
