The fall of socialism in Poland can be greatly attributed to the Polish elites’ failure to represent the working class. The elites believe that representing the working class is necessary for the survival of socialism in the country. However, they were not able to continue with their initiatives due to growing social conflict, which resulted from the workers disenchantment of the elites’ policies. The manner in which social conflict evolved proved to be detrimental to the elites’ efforts.
