Abstract
The Christian Right has succeeded in transcending its once declining stature as a social movement characterized by disorganization, decentralization and a weak institutional framework. It has established itself as a formidable force comprised of grassroots organizations in Virginia with a focus on politics instead of religion. It has thus attained some influence in state Republican parties and has built a strong potential to increase its impact on GOP politics and public policy.
