Friedrich Engels’ has demonstrated great interest in the revolutionary function of religion, from the early part of Christianity up to the German War during the 16th century and the English Puritan Revolution during the 17th century. He also recognized that the confrontation between religion and materialism was not related to the phenomenon of revolution and counter-revolution and freedom and tyranny. Despite being merely contemplations of actual conditions, his analyses on religion recognized the predictive role of some revolutionary religious ideals.
