Women in Societies
Author(s)Moghadam, Valentine M.
AbstractA framework based on the concepts of the world-system, state, class, gender, and social movements provides a way to compare the social position of women across different societies. Processes of industrialization, urbanization and proletarianization have affected the social position of women, while women in turn have affected the labor market, political structure and the family. The analysis suggests that the dialogue between sociology and feminism can enrich both fields.
