Abstract
The effect of traditions of pre-colonial political culture on the political behavior and value orientations of the masses is investigated. The traditions of a preceding political culture act as a ‘psychological adaptation’ to the forms of institutionalization and development imposed by outside factors. Such a notion is helpful in explaining how traditional political culture interact with colonization attempts in some countries such as Africa, Asia and Oceania.
